Located at a dramatic intersection at the top of a bluff in La Jolla, this mixed-use project serves as a major public gateway to the University of California at San Diego campus across from the La Jolla Playhouse. The $496-million, 1.4-million-sq-ft UC San Diego Theatre District Living and Learning Neighborhood will provide undergraduate housing with a minimum of 2,050 beds with five high-rise buildings ranging from nine to 21 stories.
Also included are a conference center and market hall building, a mixed-use building and a four-level, 1,200-stall subterranean parking garage. Targeting LEED Gold, the project has been designed to achieve both low-energy usage and high performance while improving the overall health and wellness of the community.

The design-build project, designed by EYRC and HKS architects, features an outward-focused layout that incorporates community planning principles. Kitchell Contractors is general contractor. Work will be complete in fall 2023.
