Capodanno says that there are a few large commercial projects underway in Wilmington, including a $150-million headquarters expansion for Wilmington-area pharmaceutical company Incyte. The expansion consists of a six-story lab and office building and a two-story parking deck that will bring Incyte’s employees to a single campus. “This is in addition to the main office building they erected about three years ago,” Capodanno says.
He also says that much of the Wilmington-area construction includes residential units, including 2000 Pennsylvania, a 376,000-sq-ft, eight-story mixed-use project. “The Falls is another residential project along the Brandywine Riverwalk at the Old Bancroft Mills location,” he says, “which was the longest and largest complex along the Brandywine dating back as early as 1787.”  The project includes two five-story buildings, each of which is about 150,000 sq ft, he says.
All in all, Capodanno says that Wilmington-area construction opportunities—residential and commercial—will continue to expand over the next two to three years.”
