Sundt is building a 130,000-sq-ft Innovation Center at Port San Antonio, a large technology campus that’s home to several top names in aerospace, cybersecurity, robotics and other advanced industries. The design-build project’s various niche components, specialty trades and wide range of end-uses made for a complex preconstruction phase. When it opens in early 2022, this first-of-its-kind facility will feature multiple strategic components under one roof, including a 2,500-person technology arena designed to host electronic gaming tournaments, banquets, concerts and conventions.

Brown was on site around 2 a.m. on April 12 to capture the concrete pour for the tilt-up panels with a Canon 5D Mark iv with a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8l lens. “I was hoping to capture the action of the pour and show some perspective. They’re standing on and pouring into rebar. I wanted to grab a unique view from the rebar’s perspective,” he says. “I like the framing of the shot, the uniqueness of the viewpoint, and it’s really satisfying to see what I got when I had to move very quickly, constantly moving backward to minimize splatter on myself and the camera,” Brown says.
