Todd CenciminoWilson & Co., Engineers and Architects has hired Todd Cencimino as the firm’s Arizona transportation operations manager. Cencimino will be expanding transportation services throughout Arizona. For more than 25 years, he has worked in transportation engineering, from planning and design to construction services. His extensive background with municipal, state and federal agencies enables him to manage multidisciplined projects.

 

Dan CampbellMiyamoto International and Las Vegas Engineers LLC are opening a new joint office in Henderson, Nev. Miyamoto Las Vegas will be led by principal Dan Campbell, who has more than 39 years of experience serving the area as a structural engineer.Campbell founded Las Vegas Engineers LLC in 2002 and has provided structural engineering consulting services to the region.

The partnership combines decades of expertise in Nevada with Miyamoto’s global portfolio, which includes education, health care, industrial, hospitality, high- rise, gaming, transportation and commercial facilities. The firm has more than 25 offices around the world, including an office in Reno  and six in California.

“Structures and people occupy the same spaces, each the better for it,” Campbell said.

 

FNF Construction Inc. has promoted Richard Montoya to vice president - project sponsor. In his new role, Montoya will be responsible for all New Mexico operations for FNF through the Albuquerque office. He is a registered engineer in New Mexico and has worked as a heavy-highway engineer through both preconstruction and construction project phases. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from New Mexico State University in 2006. Montoya is currently overseeing several heavy-highway projects for FNF in New Mexico, including New Mexico DOT’s NM 6 Los Lunas bridge replacement over the Rio Grande and I-40 Refinery Phase 3.

 

Niki WardHMC Architects has hired Niki Ward as principal-in-charge of the firm’s Phoenix interiors workplace studio. Ward will establish the new interiors studio and help expand the firm’s focus to other market sectors, including sub-acute health care, office workspaces and industrial projects. Ward has more than 18 years of experience in interior design. In her previous work at McCarthy Nordburg, Colliers International, RJM Construction and Ware Malcomb, Ward worked on projects for Coldwell Banker’s headquarters in Phoenix, Charles Schwab, the University of Phoenix, Toyota Financial Services and Uber.

“My goal is to create a solid and successful interiors team and to become an established and highly recognized competitor in the Phoenix market,” she said.

 

Susan MartinovichHNTB Corp. has hired Susan Martinovich as vice president  and transportation practice consultant for the firm’s West region. She is based in HNTB’s new Las Vegas office. Martinovich’s career in transportation spans more than 35 years, including serving six years as director of the Nevada Dept. of Transportation. Martinovich now serves as a strategic adviser to HNTB project delivery teams throughout the Western U.S. As part of HNTB’s leadership team, she also provides mentoring and coaching for project, office and division leadership teams. She supports HNTB’s national DOT and toll-market teams in fostering relationships with clients across the country. During her 28-year tenure at NDOT, Martinovich worked to create a responsive and customer-friendly agency through broader communications strategies, improve transparency and boost accountability. Before joining HNTB, Martinovich served as national highway market director for another consulting firm.

 

David FagerstromSundt Construction has added David Fagerstrom as a project director in its industrial group. He has 20 years of construction experience, with a project portfolio that includes a $54-million water reclamation facility and a $65-million water treatment plant in Arizona.
 

 

Larissa TavelliMcCarthy Building Cos. has promoted Larissa Tavelli to marketing director for the Southwest region. Tavelli previously served as the firm’s senior marketing manager, leading marketing efforts across the Southwest region. She will now oversee the region’s branding and marketing strategy while supporting business development, preconstruction, operations and project teams. Tavelli serves on the McCarthy Partnership for Women committee. She also is the national administrator for McCarthy’s client feedback tool and serves on national leadership committees for the business development leadership group and the marketing steering committee, where she has been a key contributor to marketing strategies across the nation.

 

The PENTA Building Group has announced several new hires and promotions across the region. Abraham Mendivil has been hired as safety manager for the Arizona region; April Swartz joins the team in Las Vegas as accounting clerk; and Nancy Mayorga has been hired as senior project engineer in Las Vegas. Alex Ortega has been promoted to senior project engineer in Las Vegas. Rossela Learing’s title has been changed to procurement manager in Las Vegas. Learing was previously a senior project engineer.


Obituary

Trevor Bui, deputy aviation director for the city of Phoenix, died on March 17. He spent 14 years of his 24-year career at the city, first as program coordinator for small and disadvantaged business enterprise programs and most recently as deputy aviation director of business and properties.
