This project transformed a former big box store in downtown Salt Lake City into a state-of-the-art, 94,000-sq-ft working lab for a leading pharmaceutical research company. The result is a combination of offices and labs blended into a high-tech workspace designed to reflect the company’s “techy, outdoorsy, exploratory” brand that helps Recursion Pharmaceuticals compete with Silicon Valley for talent.

Operations at the facility required significant power-capacity upgrades, so the team worked with the facility owner and Rocky Mountain Power and the engineers to find space for the new transformer. Mitigating vibration was another key task, requiring installation of 90 structural beams on two levels within tight constraints to ensure the safe and vibration-free operation of new robotic lab equipment.
