While working within the busy Los Angeles International Airport, contractors delivered this $398-million project under a construction manager-at-risk method, completing it ahead of schedule and on budget. Construction included renovations to the Terminal 1 concourse, ticketing areas and security screening checkpoints and reconfiguration of aircraft gate systems.

To successfully build in an active airport environment, the project team carefully planned, coordinated and communicated with all involved stakeholders. With a hard completion date set by the owner, there was no room for error. The team created scheduling and budget opportunities through one-on-one meetings with the owner to keep the project focused.

Crews worked night shifts throughout the project, while the project team utilized just-in-time deliveries to secure sufficient laydown space.
