Walter N. Marks Inc. is planning to build an Art Deco residential tower at 5411 W. Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles. The 42-story building will feature a curving facade rising above a podium with an outdoor deck on the fifth floor. It will contain 371 apartments. A total of 56 apartments will be set aside for low-income residents. The project is being designed by Keating Architecture. Construction is expected to be complete by 2023. The California Dept. of Transportation is currently evaluating submitted design-build proposals for the U.S. Route 50 multimodal corridor enhancement project in Sacramento. The proposed project will extend the existing HOV lanes west to Interstate 5 and rehabilitate the roadway, including selected ramps and connectors. The project is valued at $300 million. Dignity Health is planning to expand Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz. The 84,000-sq-ft expansion will add three more operating rooms and a three-story parking garage with 410 parking spaces. The project is being designed by Devenney Group Ltd., and McCarthy Building Cos. has been chosen as the general contractor. The project is valued at $360 million.
