“Once again the Boise skyline has its fair share of tower cranes operating. Construction of multifamily units—everything from affordable housing to ultra-expensive luxury living—dominates the market, with even more in the planning phases,” Hammon says. “These include at least five high-rise apartment complexes in downtown Boise and what are described as ‘premier condos’ along the Boise River in West Boise and on Meridian’s west side. Also of note are several large medical centers across the valley that are either just underway or about to be. Those include the much-anticipated children’s wing, central facilities plant and two parking garages at St. Luke’s downtown; St. Alphonsus’ new surgery clinic on Liberty Street; and a new facility by Hospital Corporation of America in Meridian, their first venture into Idaho. Taken together, these privately funded projects and the continuing pressure on occupancy rates across all commercial classifications are keeping Boise valley contractors busy. Much the same can be said for the rest of the state as well. Idaho continues to be the place everyone is taking note of.”
