Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based contractor Moss recently celebrated the topping out of the Brickell Flatiron building in downtown Miami. The 66-story tower, which is nearly 700 ft tall and totals more than 1.6 million sq ft, will include 549 residential units. Being developed by CMC Group, the project is reportedly scheduled for completion later this year.

 

SchenkelShultz Architecture of Orlando recently took home the Florida Educational Facilities Planners Association’s 2019 First Place Award for outstanding design in the middle school category. FEFPA recognized SchenkelShultz for its design of Seminole County’s new Millennium Middle School, constructed by Wharton-Smith Inc. The award marks the fourth consecutive year that the firm has received the top honor in either the middle school, high school or university categories.

 

Auburn University recently recognized Jeff Stone, executive vice president with Brasfield & Gorrie, with its Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes university alumni for achievement in their professional lives. At Brasfield & Gorrie, Stone oversees field operations and corporate support functions while serving on the firm’s executive board. He joined the construction company in 1979 after earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Auburn. Stone is also chairman of the United Way of Central Alabama’s 2019 annual campaign.
