Rachel VandenbergRachel Vandenberg has been named senior vice president at Dewberry’s Long Beach, Calif., office. With nearly 30 years of industry experience, Vandenberg has spent five years with Dewberry, overseeing the growth and expansion of its ports and intermodal practice across the East and West coasts. Her areas of expertise include port facilities, freight and commuter rail, light rail transit, streetcars and buses. Vandenberg earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree in business administration from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.


Michael MillerMichael Miller has been promoted to design principal at architecture firm Steinberg Hart in Los Angeles. Miller has collaborated on the design of such projects as the Crafton Hills Public Safety Allied Health Building and Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Student Union. He is leading the design of the Computer Science and Makerspace Building at Harvey Mudd College. Miller earned a bachelor’s degree from the University at Buffalo and his master’s degree from the Southern California Institute of Architecture.


Robin Duveen was recently promoted from chief operating officer to president and COO at Gafcon Inc.’s San Diego office. A construction industry veteran with nearly 30 years of experience in program, project and construction management, Duveen joined the firm in 1998. Prior to joining Gafcon, Duveen was a development/project manager for Rabie Property Developers and Resnekov & Nielson in his native South Africa. He earned a bachelor’s degree in construction management from Cape Tecknikon in Cape Town, South Africa.


Jordan AlvesDinesh Alluri, Jordan Alves, Nathan Davis, Satvinder Singh, Gregory Thomas and Jon Rennan have joined Sundt Construction Inc.’s building group,  California district, in the firm’s Sacramento office. Alluri joins Sundt as an estimator, arriving from Chicago, where he served as a project engineer in the estimating unit. Alves will serve as a field engineer after most recently having worked at SpaceX as a launch site engineer intern. Davis brings more than 10 years of experience to his new role as a virtual construction engineer. Singh arrives at Sundt after serving as an engineer for a local engineering firm. Thomas joins Sundt as a project safety manager with nearly 13 years of experience. Rennan joins Sundt as the area safety manager after spending more than 20 years in a similar role for another local contractor.


Michael Barker has been named vice president and corporate controller at Granite Construction Inc. in Watsonville, Calif. Barker has served as assistant controller since 2015. Prior to joining Granite, Barker worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP for 16 years auditing and advising global companies. Barker earned a bachelor’s of science degree in accountancy from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and is a certified public accountant.


Katie Carley has been named associate vice president and business developer in HGA’s Los Angeles office. She will support new business opportunities for the higher education practice group. Carley has more than 18 years of experience in the architecture/engineering/construction industry. Before joining HGA, Carley was associate principal, director of development and co-director of operations for Moore Ruble Yudell Architects & Planners in Santa Monica, where she provided strategic direction for all project pursuits in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
