The National Capital Planning Commission is planning a $100-million Armed Forces Retirement Home redevelopment. The 4.4-million-sq-ft project on Rock Creek Church Road NW would leave intact most of the retirement home’s 192-acre campus and use the rest for various types of facilities, residences, retail space and a hotel. Maryland

MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center has proposed a two-story building housing a new surgical suite with 14 operating rooms. Valued at up to $50 million, the design-bid-build project in Rosedale will be joined to the existing in-patient tower. The project is awaiting approvals. Pennsylvania

The Allegheny County Airport Authority is working on a terminal modernization program at Pittsburgh International Airport. The $783.8-million project will relocate the landside terminal and related parking and roadway functions to a new terminal complex that will be constructed adjacent to the existing airside terminal. The existing landside building  may be demolished or adapted for reuse. The project includes a three-level, 632,000-sq-ft addition to the airside terminal.
