The University of Delaware is preparing for the Whitney Athletic Center and Stadium Improvements project in Newark. The $60-million job includes a five-story, 90,000-sq-ft, glass-and-steel building and renovation of the 22,000-seat football stadium. Work is expected to begin within 24 months. District of Columbia

DC Events is planning to construct Market Hall, a two-story, 61,000-sq-ft building with food-and-beverage service, retail and to-be-determined recreational uses. Maryland

SpaceX is planning the estimated $150-million East Coast Hyperloop Track, between Washington, D.C., and New York City. Construction on the tunnel’s Maryland section will begin near Baltimore. Approximately 10 miles will be under the state-owned portion of MD 295. The schedule is undetermined. Hyperloop Transportation Technologies is the architect, and AECOM is the engineer. Maryland

The Dept. of the Navy, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) is planning a hangar at Andrews Air Force Base, in Prince George’s County. The up-to-$250-million project comprises a two-bay hangar, taxiway, parking apron, associated lighting, engine run-up pads and a hydrant refueling system, with storage tanks. Other requirements could include site preparation, wetland and stream mitigation, stormwater management, landscaping, a fire detection and suppression system, and a parking lot. Pennsylvania

Design is underway for the Fox Chapel Area School District’s replacement Kerr Elementary School, in Pittsburgh. The up-to-$21-million project could be bid by April. Virginia

The Virginia Dept. of Transportation is planning the I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension. The $140-million project will extend express lanes by about 10 miles. Two reversible lanes will be built in an existing I-95 median. Request for quotations could be released in January, and a request for proposal is anticipated in March.
