Dell Medical School’s Health Learning Building, a $36.42-million project, is the first new medical school constructed at a Tier 1 American research university in decades.

To minimize impacts on residents, students and nearby facilities, utilities construction began while the building was still in design. The project team communicated activities with users of all facilities near the medical school to keep them operational. The team even coordinated with contractors on neighboring sites doing concurrent work in the Medical School District.

The LEED Gold-certified building opened in summer 2016 for University of Texas at Austin’s inaugural medical school class.
