WT Brookshire Hall is home to the newly established Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy at the University of Texas at Tyler.

The project site is located on a hillside with a 42-ft elevation drop from the top of the hill to an existing lake, requiring extensive strategic planning for site mobility and drainage. An adjacent parking lot also drains through the site, which created tough construction conditions from even small amounts of rainfall. The project experienced record rainfall, so preventing stormwater runoff into Lake Harvey became one of the team’s top priorities.

Adverse weather occurred on nearly 50% of the days from November 2014 through May 2015, which coincided with the project’s waterproofing and dry-in tasks. The waterproofing manufacturer provided an additive for the building membrane that allowed it to be installed in much colder temperatures. This helped the team recover valuable installation time and dry-in the building despite adverse conditions.
