The 18,750-sq-ft building includes 12 classrooms, indoor and outdoor play areas and flexible spaces for teaching and learning. The existing facility was directly adjacent to the new building and remained fully operational during the project. To avoid disruptions, crews did the pile-driving during school breaks, placing 6-ft-high, temporary fencing with a wind screen around the site perimeter. To solve flooding around the school, downspouts in the original design were removed and rainwater is now channeled into linear rain gardens populated with native vegetation. Ryan Gootee General Contractors resolved several end-user issues of functionality, ultimately saving the owner $40,000.
