The student center’s design-build team created a multilevel design concept featuring high canopy architectural elements. The design, which incorporates a skybox, provides a significant visual reference for the campus. The team incorporated a combination concrete shear wall, brace frame, moment frame and truss system structural-frame design to account for torsional forces due to the high canopy and skybox architectural features. Despite an eight-month owner-directed moratorium, the structure was completed on time for building occupancy.
