The Tampa Bay construction market is “every bit as busy, if not busier” in 2016 than it promised to be a year ago, says Bowden. “Projects that we were hearing about a year ago are starting, so we’re seeing more bricks and sticks.” While the renovation of Tampa International Airport is the highest-dollar project under construction, developer Jeff Vinik’s emerging mixed-use mega development in Channelside is generating positive expectations. Around Tampa Bay, residential projects continue to move forward and hospitality is “still strong at the beach,” he says.
