While Cona says the “vast majority” of Tampa Bay-area projects are continuing to move forward amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the future of the area’s construction activity is uncertain. The decision to cancel the school year could enable some contractors to start early on K-12 projects, for instance, but some health care projects “might take a step back,” he says. “It’s possible we could see a dip in private-sector projects and a potential increase in public projects. Time will tell.”
