NYBC Holds Industry Recognition Dinner  April 2010
Honorees Edward Cruz, Robert E. Selsam, Janette Sadik-Khan and Frank J. Sciame with New York Building Congress Chairman Stuart E. Graham. Approximately 900 members of the building community gathered to pay tribute to four industry greats during the New York Building Congress 2009 Industry Recognition Dinner at the Grand Hyatt New York last November. EE Cruz & Company CEO Edward Cruz and Boston Properties Senior Vice President/New York Region Manager Robert E. Selsam were presented with Industry Recognition Awards. F.J. Sciame Construction Company Chairman and CEO Frank J. Sciame received the George A. Fox Public Service Award, and Special Recognition for Public Service was given to New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan. The General Contractors Association of New York recently held an event in which they spoke to 4th and 5th graders from P.S. 115 in Brooklyn about the newest environmentally friendly construction equipment which will be used to rebuild the section of the Belt Parkway which runs through their neighborhood. The students visited a construction site adjacent to the Canarsie Pier near exit 13 of the Belt Parkway and got an up close look at a “green” state-of-the-art excavator, which will reduce CO2 emissions by 17-tons per year, lower fuel consumption by a projected 25 to 40 percent, lower noise pollution and help improve the quality of life of those living near construction sites.(From left): Patrick Ahern, President, Edward Ehrbar, Inc., Michael Allegretti, The Climate Group, David Grezlak, Chairman and CEO, Komatsu America, Denise Richardson, Managing Director, General Contractors Association of New York, James Gennaro, NYC Councilmember and Chair of the Committee on Environmental Protection and Peter Tully, President, Tully Construction.

Hackett, The Clarrett Group, Mike Weiss, MetroTech BID, Eric Deutsch, The Clarrett Group and Joe Chan, Downtown Brooklyn Alliance. The Clarrett Group celebrated the debut of The Brooklyner, the borough’s tallest apartment tower this past December with live musical performances presented by The Bell House. Brooklyn’s own April Smith & The Great Picture Show headlined at the building’s grand opening. The evening’s entertainment and model floor opening drew crowds from across New York City, including many of Brooklyn’s most important political and civic leaders.
