Kwame Building Group, St. Louis, has completed the last of eight separate construction management contracts on the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) Lower Meramec River facility in South St. Louis County.
Kwame, which specializes in construction management, has performed 37% of the total construction management work on the project since 2001, as a sub-consultant to Jacobs Engineering (formerly Sverdrup Civil, Inc.).
The new 15-million-gallon-per-day state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant replaced the lagoon process at the site and at the MSD Baumgartner wastewater treatment plant four miles away.
The project’s general contractors included Goodwin Brothers Construction Co., J.H. Berra Construction Co., Inc., Bates Utility Co., Inc., Synagro WWT, Inc., and Gershenson Construction Co., Inc.
Kwame managed construction of the new wastewater treatment facility, providing inspection services, claims management, quality control and schedule monitoring. The eight projects included site preparation, site preloading - Phase I, a 1.5-mile wastewater outfall sewer to the Mississippi River, the wastewater treatment plant, electrical supply, site restoration and landscaping, lagoon decommissioning and sludge removal and, finally, preloading to prepare the site for future facility expansion.
