The St. Regis is a 2.1-million-gross-sq-ft resort development consisting of three 27-story residential towers with more than 500 units. But one of the project's biggest challenges was the 270,000-sq-ft subterranean garage, which is positioned below the water table. The contractor needed roughly 4,000 auger-cast piles and more than 40 large pumps to complete the "bathtub" in approximately 13 months—by which time the tower structures were well over half complete.
