Earth Tech, a Land O' Lakes, Fla.-based geotechnical engineering and construction services firm, hired Ed Garbin as vice president of engineering and technology. Formerly chief engineer for Hayward Baker's Southern region, Garbin will serve as lead technical authority for the firm's projects in the U.S. and the Caribbean. He has 30 years of related experience.
Earth Tech also added Mark Plaskett and Michael Simpson as senior project managers. Both Plaskett and Simpson previously worked with Hayward Baker.
Lauren Mattox has joined Heery International's Atlanta office as national director of integrated corporate solutions. In this new role, Mattox will focus on developing Heery's corporate practice, which is supported by its design, project management and construction disciplines. Most recently with Jones Lang LaSalle, Mattox has 15 years of corporate construction, audit and project management experience, with an emphasis on lease negotiations and master budgeting and scheduling as well as value engineering. Prior to that, she led CBRE's office interiors project management group for eight years.
Charles Hymes has been named a senior technical manager in the Orlando office of Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB). In this role, Hymes will manage and provide technical support for transit and rail projects throughout the country. He has more than 30 years of experience with planning, design and construction of transportation projects. Most recently, Hymes worked as a program director for another national consulting firm.
In its Atlanta office, PB hired Paul Slone as a supervising engineer. In his new position, Slone serves as a senior traffic and intelligent transportation systems engineer, managing traffic engineering analysis, traffic operations and design projects. He has 23 years of traffic engineering experience.
Pete Kelley was recently named president of Superior Construction Company Southeast LLC, Jacksonville, Fla. Prior to this appointment, he served as the firm's executive vice president. Kelley, who joined Superior Construction in 1993, is the incoming chairman of the Florida Transportation Builders Association.
GATES Construction of Bonita Springs, Fla., added Norman Brook as a project manager. Brook has 45 years of industry experience.
Steve Haskins has joined West Palm Beach, Fla.-based general contractor Woolems Inc. as chief financial officer. Previously CFO with Boca Raton, Fla.-based Kaufman Lynn Construction Co., Haskins will be responsible for leading strategic business and financial planning as Woolems expands its footprint in Florida. Haskins has more than 30 years of industry experience.
Engineering and consulting firm GRAEF hired David Bryan as a senior technician in its Jacksonville, Fla., office, where he will focus on electrical distribution design.
Andrew Steege has joined the Charlotte office of Professional Service Industries (PSI) as a senior geologist.
Rodgers Builders of Charlotte recently hired Evia Nelson as a senior project manager and Jason Moore as a business developer. The contractor also announced the hiring of Katie Glodowski as a senior marketing coordinator.
