GEORGE
Jeff George has joined Gilbane Building Co. in Atlanta as director of corporate and commercial markets. The firm says it expects to see increased construction activity in the Southeast markets. George, a 30-year industry veteran, spent the past seven years as a vice president with Balfour Beatty Construction, Atlanta. He also previously worked for Hardin Construction.

Brian Keane, Marcus King and Daniel Curtis have joined the infrastructure team of Merrick & Co.'s office in Charlotte. The firm says it is experiencing growth in the civil infrastructure market.

Keane was hired as a civil engineer and will support Merrick's private development and local government clients. He previously worked as a project manager specializing in civil and environmental projects for HDR Inc.

King, also hired as a civil engineer, has more than 10 years of experience with site engineering and land development projects.

Curtis joined the firm's survey team and will perform drafting, construction layout and 3D modeling for design. He has roughly 10 years of surveying experience.

 

VOIT
Karen Voit has been promoted to the position of principal in charge of Florida business operations for Lend Lease, Tampa. Voit, who previously served as director of operations for the Tampa office, first began working for Lend Lease in 1994 as a project engineer while attending college.

Jeff Roman has joined Charlotte-based architecture and design firm Little as national director of engineering. Roman has 15 years of industry experience, including with commercial, retail, civic, education and mixed-use projects.

 

KING
James King has been named vice president for KBR Building Group's Florida operations in Orlando. King, who has 30 years of industry experience, first started his career with KBR's Nashville office, and most recently worked for the company in Dallas. In his new position, he will focus on health care and life sciences projects as well as medical teaching facilities.

David Thatcher joined Sterling Risk Advisors of Atlanta as a producer. He will provide risk management and insurance products with specialties in construction and surety. He previously work for Block USA, Cemex and RMC Allied Materials.


HOLLIFIELD
Ray Hollifield has been named vice president and business development director for Heery International, Atlanta. A 30-year industry veteran, he previously worked for B.L. Harbert International, KBR Building Group and KPMG.

Rich Driggs also joined Heery International's Atlanta office as national director of construction management and design-build. Driggs replaces Lin Redden, who is retiring. Driggs comes to Heery from Lend Lease Corp., where he served as executive vice president and head of integrated projects.

 

PENDERGRASS
Susan Pendergrass has joined the Orlando office of Heery International as director of business development for health care. Pendergrass has more than 20 years of industry experience and previously served as a senior business developer for architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast and Northwest.

Tim Bonczek was appointed to the newly created position of chief operating officer for Kaufman Lynn Construction, Boca Raton, Fla. Bonczek started with Kaufman Lynn as a superintendent in 1995. He recently served as vice president of construction operations with Dana B. Kenyon Co., Jacksonville, Fla. Bonczek also recently helped create a renewable energy firm.

Chris Long also joined Kaufman Lynn Construction as vice president of operations. A 25-year industry veteran, Long previously worked as operations director with Balfour Beatty Construction.

Ronald Haligman recently became Kaufman Lynn Construction's new general counsel. He was previously a partner with two South Florida law firms.

David Walker has joined specialty contractor Precision Walls Inc. in Greenville, N.C., as a project manager. A 20-year industry veteran, Walker previously worked as a superintendent and estimator for a federal contractor in Wyoming.

Steve Riggins joined the Greensboro, N.C., branch of Precision Walls as an account executive. He previously worked for the company from 1993-2007.
