SMUTS

Kenneth Smuts has been named vice president and project executive for Coastal Construction Group, Miami. Previously, Smuts worked as senior vice president and managing director for The Related Group, a Miami-based residential developer, where he managed the firm's ICON Brickell project. Coastal also named Steve Pouk to the position of vice president. Pouk most recently served as a senior vice president for Starwood Hotels and Resorts, where he oversaw design and construction operations.

Christian Jacobsen has joined Balfour Beatty Construction in Atlanta as director of interior services for the contractor's Georgia operations. He will oversee all interiors and mission-critical projects.

Nicole Flier was hired by SIKON Construction, Deerfield Beach, Fla., as manager of marketing and business development. Flier formerly worked as director of business development for Fort Lauderdale-based general contractor James A. Cummings Inc.

Alex Stone was named transportation project manager for the Roswell, Ga., office of Mulkey Engineers & Consultants. Stone has 15 years of project management experience.

Jim Westmoreland, formerly deputy secretary of transit with the North Carolina Dept. of Transportation, has joined Stantec in Raleigh, N.C., as a principal for transit and multi-modal project development.

WESTMORELAND

Brian Tanberg has been named vice president in the Tampa, Fla., office of Parsons Brinckerhoff, where he also will serve as director for the Southeast. Tanberg has more than 24 years of experience in civil and marine engineering.

George Walton has been named area manager of Parsons Brinckerhoff's Orlando, Fla., office, where he will oversee the firm's operations in central and north Florida.

Jon Walker has joined Skanska USA Civil in Orlando, Fla., as business development manager for the civil business unit. Walker previously worked in operations and business development for Archer Western Contractors.

Dan Longshore has joined the Durham, N.C., office of Skanska USA as director of corporate accounts. Longshore has 15 years of industry experience, including positions with Brasfield & Gorrie, Metric Constructors and Centex Construction.

Also in Durham, Skanska USA hired Taylor Hube as marketing coordinator.

Rob Hunter has been hired as senior client service manager for MWH's Executive Client Service Group in Alpharetta, Ga. Hunter previously was the commissioner of the City of Atlanta's Dept. of Watershed Management.

James Golden has joined the Tallahassee, Fla., office of RS&H as a senior transportation consultant. Golden, who has more than 39 years of industry experience, had been manager of the Florida Dept. of Transportation's transportation statistics office.

Richard Bollinger has joined the Raleigh, N.C., office of RS&H as a senior project manager. His experience includes the design of heavy-highway structures, roadways and drainage facilities.

Kevin Gass was promoted to vice president of construction for design and construction firm O'Neal Inc., Greenville, S.C. With 23 years of construction management experience, Gass had been the firm's manager of projects. O'Neil also hired Dan Campbell as a senior architect. Campbell has more than 25 years of design experience and most recently worked as a senior quality manager with Fluor Corp. Also in O'Neal's Greenville office, David McGuire was hired as design team leader. He has more than 25 years of construction engineering experience and had served as regional deputy and engineering manager for Areva NP's civil and layout division.
