An independent jury of representatives from various sectors of the construction industry spent several weeks evaluating project submissions. Judges selected one Best Project and multiple awards of merit in each category. An overall Best Project was selected across all categories. Jurors abstained from voting on projects with which they were affiliated. This year's jury included:
Jeff Birchfield
Business Unit Safety Director, Turner Construction Co., Seattle
A Seattle native, Birchfield began his construction career as a laborer. He joined Turner's Seattle office as an area safety manager for its special projects division.
Jason Chupp
Operations Manager, Swinerton Builders, Portland
A Portland native, Chupp has more than 17 years of construction experience. He joined Swinerton Builders in 2011 after 12 years with Howard S. Wright's special projects group.
Roger Flint
Vice President/Area Manager, CH2M Hill, Spokane, Wash.
In addition to his area manager duties, Flint serves as CH2M Hill's Northwest government affairs director. He has more than 25 years of public works and utility experience.
Cori Palmer
Assistant Project Development Manager, Mortenson Construction, Seattle
Palmer is responsible for fostering and maintaining relationships with customers, designers and engineers in the infrastructure/transportation and environmental markets.
John Schaufelberger
Dean, College of Built Environments, University of Washington, Seattle
