Surging revenue for firms generating power, light and building communication technologies charged up record attendance for the 2016 National Electrical Contractors Association convention in Boston.
ENR New England is pleased to announce Carl Sciple as the 2016 Legacy Award winner. The award is given annually to an individual in the region who has established a solid “legacy” of lifetime service to the construction industry, their colleagues and to their community. ENR New England covers Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
The fire damage to Pittsburgh’s Liberty Bridge took longer than expected to repair, but the bridge that connects the Steel City’s downtown to the Liberty Tunnels finally reopened to traffic on Monday afternoon.

The issue will also feature the entire list of the top-ranked specialty contractors based on 2015 revenue. The 18 participating firms from Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia reported a total of $2.4 billion of revenue in the region during 2015.
After moving 40 ft to 50 ft to a temporary position in mid-October, the 140-year-old synagogue will shift another 1,000 ft to its final location above a parking garage at the corner of Third Street and F Street Northwest.
The Pennsylvania Dept. of Transportation announced Friday afternoon that Pittsburgh’s fire-damaged Liberty Bridge will remain closed indefinitely as crews continue to repair 30 feet of a compression chord on a deck truss that was damaged in a Sept. 2 blaze. PennDOT, which hoped to finish the work by Monday, did not specify when the work would be done.

An industry veteran and safety expert has chosen the winners of ENR New England’s Excellence in Safety Awards. The award is part of the Best Projects 2016 competition that will be profiled in more depth in the November issue of ENR New England. The winners will also be honored at an awards banquets on Dec. 8 in Boston.
