America Falls, Idaho, will use about $1.4 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds to replace more than five miles of 6-in. steel water pipeline from the artesian wells at Sunbeam Springs northeast of the city limits.
Flatiron Construction Corp. of Longmont is the apparent low-bidder on the state contract to repair $860,417 worth of damage on Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon, according to the Colorado Dept. of Transportation.
CDOT has implemented emergency contracting procedures while it continues to develop repair plans and seek bids, which it expects to receive in the next day or two, according to Mindy Crane, CDOT public relations manager. CDOT hopes to have a contractor in place by the end of the week.
The Colorado Dept. of Transportation says it doesn’t know when Interstate 70 through Glenwood Canyon will reopen after Sunday’s rockslide. CDOT crews spent most of Monday blasting to break up the larger boulders, while CDOT geologists assessed the rock cliff above the highway and determined it is too unstable to remain in place.
This February/March issue of Mountain States Construction represents another turning point for this relatively new publication. This is the first issue of the magazine’s new print publishing schedule, which has gone from monthly to 10 times a year.
