Ward Electric Named Mountain States Specialty Firm of the Year

ENR is pleased to announce that Ward Electric Co. has been selected the 2025 Mountain States Specialty Firm of the Year.
The second-generation family-owned, full-service electrical contractor has been in business 20 years, specializing in transmission/distribution projects as well as substations, solar and wind projects, and storm repair / pre-planning work. The contractor reported more than $110 million in regional revenue in 2024, up from $77 million the previous year. Firm representatives say this growth has come while adapting to new market trends and opening additional offices, and has been led by a focus on fire mitigation projects and increased efforts to bolster the grid’s resilience during periods of peak demand. Ward Electric's ranking on the ENR Mountain States and Southwest region's inaugural Top Specialty Contractors List will be unveiled in the Oct. 27 issue of the magazine.
A few of Ward Electric's recent projects include wildfire mitigation along Colorado's Front Range, Coal Creek fire mitigation in Coal Creek, Colo. and a full 69kV switchyard build out for the Tesla Substation Upgrade in Keenesburg, Colo.
With more than 500 employees, Ward has been selected as a Best Place to Work by the Denver Business Journal annually for the last five years.
In 2024, Ward Electric and its foundation arm contributed more than $500,000 to area organizations and non-profits, including nursing, youth and veterans’ programs, as well as Down syndrome and hearing impairment inclusion initiatives.
Firms of the Year are chosen by a vote of the regional ENR editors from across the country based on a carefully selected group of finalists. Factors include revenue growth, new initiatives, current projects, community and industry contributions and other considerations.
A story on Ward Electric will appear in the Oct. 27 print issue of ENR Mountain States and Southwest, which will also feature our inaugural ranking of the top specialty firms from across the recently-merged seven-state region of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
