A Preview of the Top Specialty Contractors of 2018 From ENR Mountain States
Top specialty contractors ICI and MTech Mechanical are among the many Colorado firms working on the 294,000-sq-ft Children’s Hospital Colorado in Colorado Springs. The hospital’s key features include a neonatal intensive care unit, a pediatric intensive care unit, a sleep study lab, a designated space for behavioral health treatment, and the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. The project is being led by GE Johnson Construction and FKP Architects.

The preliminary results from our annual survey of the 2018 Top Specialty Contractors across the Mountain States region are in and we wanted to share the names of some of the top firms, based on 2017 fiscal-year revenues, in non-ranked, random order.
The top 20 specialty firms across the region for this year include:
KHS&S Contractors, EMCOR Group Inc., CR Lighting & Electric, Sturgeon Electric Co. Inc., McAlvain Concrete Inc., Cache Valley Electric Co., Power Design, MasTec Inc., ICI, Encore Electric Inc., Faith Technologies Inc., U.S. Engineering Co., Sure Steel Inc., MTech Mechanical, ISEC Inc., Comfort Systems USA, SME Steel Contractors Inc., Weifield Group Contracting, Terra Millennium Corp. and Taylor Electric Inc.
This year’s top list reflects an even broader diversity of specialty work than in years past, with electrical firms, steel erectors, HVAC experts and concrete and interiors specialists sharing the spotlight.
As always, the full list of rankings, which appear in the December issue of ENR Mountain States, are based on self-reported 2017 revenues from firms who filled out an online survey.
