ENR West 2026 Northwest Design Firm of the Year: PAE Consulting Engineers
The PAE Living Building in Portland, Ore. is one of the firm's standout example of the firm's commitment to sustainable projects.
ENR regional editors have selected PAE Consulting Engineers as the magazine's 2026 Northwest Design Firm of the Year for the West Region.
The Portland, Ore.-based firm’s 2025 West Coast revenue reached almost $70M, with its efforts in the Pacific Northwest accounting for two-thirds of that largesse. In fact, PAE's last-year reports showed the company achieved its highest booking month in company history, despite strong industry financial headwinds.
The company has focused on building performance, decarbonization and systems integration. PAE is a signatory of the MEP 2040 Challenge, issued by the Carbon Leadership Forum, and recently deployed an internal Embodied Carbon Tool that enables project teams to quantify and reduce whole-life carbon. In addition, internal R&D grants and pilot programs pushed emerging strategies forward, exploring grid-interactive buildings and thermal energy storage.
Standout projects included the Bush School Upper School and the UW Foster School of Business Founder’s Hall. PAE also contributed to marquee projects such as the Seattle Aquarium Ocean Pavilion and Portland International Airport main terminal expansion.
