ENR’s Excellence in Safety Award is now in its ninth year as part of the annual regional Best Projects competition. This year, ENR Texas & Louisiana is honoring four projects for their outstanding safety records and job-site procedures.

Our safety judges reviewed over 50 entries, considering many factors in their decisions, including a project’s overall safety program, OSHA recordable incident rate, lost time accident rate as well as total man hours on the job.

This year's independent panel of safety experts included Kim Espinosa, director of safety at TEXO, Brent Fisher, director of safety at Yates Construction, and Kim Mason, senior director of safety services at AGC Houston.

We'll feature all our Best Projects winners in the Dec. 13 issue of ENR Texas & Louisiana.

All winning project teams — as well as our Owner of the Year, Design Firm of the Year, Contractor of the Year, Specialty Contractor of the Year and Legacy Award winner — will be celebrated in Houston on Dec. 17 at the JW Marriott. We still plan to host this event in person, but we're keeping a close eye on local health and safety guidelines and will change to a virtual event should that be required.

Congratulations to all our winners!
