ENR Texas & Louisiana has named Structure Tone Southwest (STSW) as its 2020 Contractor of the Year in recognition of its continued regional growth, expansive project portfolio and pursuit of innovation.
Since 2016, STSW has seen its regional revenue grow by 28%, with a 16% jump alone between 2018 and 2019. The firm operates out of Texas offices in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin.
In 2019, STSW completed 14,800,000 sq ft of construction in the region and the company’s projects span over several major sectors, including ground-up, mission critical, repositioning, healthcare, pharmaceutical/lab, industrial and interior construction.
STSW also began a handful of high-profile projects in 2019, including Nokia’s consolidated corporate space in Cypress Waters, The LINE hotel in Austin and the South Texas Biomedical Research Lab—a lab located in San Antonio that is currently performing advanced research to combat COVID-19.
Among the firm’s completed work last year was the American Airlines’ 1.3 million sq ft, master-planned corporate headquarters in Fort Worth.
STSW calls one of its most notable achievements of 2019 the successful implementation of a safety application the company’s safety team helped develop with FactorLab, the providers of SmartTagIt. The app enhances the job hazard analysis planning process by enabling field leaders and safety staff to capture their safety planning meetings on video and share them with the entire site electronically. This “field first” approach helped reduce STSW’s incidents by 25%, even though manhours increased by 30%.
The STSW team is also passionate about making a positive impact on the communities in which they build, from toy drives and charity walks to building tiny homes for homeless veterans. STSW is a partner of EcoRise, an organization committed to building a more sustainable future by inspiring K-12 students to become leaders in sustainability.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, STSW employees donated over 450 N95 masks to the Plano Police Dept. and a Dallas hospital at the height of the crisis. Some employees even took it upon themselves to make their own masks and together donated over 250 homemade masks to their local communities.
