For 2019, ENR’s regional editors named Mark III Construction Inc. as ENR California’s Specialty Contractor of the Year.

For the region of California and Hawaii, Mark III posted 2018 revenue of $65.2 million, up 10.6% from $59 million in 2017 thanks to projects like Sacramento’s Metro Air Park and the Gallo Glass Compressed Air System in Modesto, Calif.

The firm was founded in 1976 by brothers Mark O’Brien and Tim O’Brien as an electrical contracting company. Mark III has grown into a full-service commercial and industrial construction company whose clients come from a range of industries, such as food and beverage, light and heavy industrial, health care, education, and water and wastewater industries throughout Northern and Central California.

Mark III developed Project Mountain, a not-for-profit that works with groups to find unique ways to identify and reduce waste through new building and testing ideas. 2018 also marked the first time the company added its first non-family owner, John Cassidy, as chief financial officer, and grew its executive team.

Mark III will accept the Specialty Contractor Award at ENR California’s Regional Best Projects awards event on Tuesday, Oct. 8 in San Francisco. To learn more about the event, please click here. A profile of the company will appear in an upcoming ENR print edition.
