ENR California has announced the winners of its Excellence in Safety awards, part of the Best Projects 2013 competition that will be profiled in more depth in the Dec. 2 issue of ENR California, and presented at two awards banquets in early December.
There were approximately 50 entries in this year's safety award competition.The safety winners are:
Excellence in Safety – Best Project
Northern California: Stanford Bing Concert Hall, located in Stanford. Submitted by: Turner Construction Co.
Southern California: Riverside Renaissance - Municipal Auditorium Improvement, located in Riverside. Submitted by: Stronghold Engineering Inc.

Also, three projects are in the running as ENR California's 'Project of the Year.' Those projects are the Stanford Bing Concert Hall, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation Headquarters and the I-210 Gold Line Bridge. The winner(s) will be announced at the banquets.
This year, we are holding two separate banquets to make it more convenient for attendees who live throughout the state, so sure to mark your calendars to meet and congratulate all of the project teams. On Dec. 3, we will hold a breakfast awards ceremony at Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, where project teams in the northern half of California, as well as winners from our separately juried ENR Northwest Best Projects competition, will be honored. Also at the banquets, we will take the opportunity to honor the firms that were selected throughout the year as our Owner, Design Firm, Contractor and Specialty Contractor of the Year. Those were the San Francisco Dept. of Public Works, Arup, Swinerton and ACCO Engineered Systems. We’ll also recognize the Top 20 Under 40 winners that were published in the February 2013 issue of ENR California.
