Finfrock of Orlando is design-building Surf Style Retail Management’s mixed-use facility in Clearwater Beach. The $11.5 million, 175,300-sq-ft retail and restaurant complex at the south end of Clearwater Beach includes parking for 344 cars. Barton Malow Co. of Orlando started construction this fall on the Florida Hospital Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement project in Celebration. The Georgia Dept. of Transportation has requested proposals for a master developer for its multi-modal passenger terminal in downtown Atlanta. Ocala-based Edwards Construction Services was selected as construction manager for several additions and renovations slated for The Villages Charter School in the Villages retirement community. Boral Composites has awarded an $11-million design-build contract to Science Applications International Corp. of McLean, Va., to build a manufacturing facility in East Spencer, N.C. Skanska USA Building has won a $13-million contract to upgrade the central plant at the Westin Peachtree Plaza hotel in downtown Atlanta. The main focus of work will be to replace the 30-year-old boilers and chillers. div id="articleExtrasA" div id="articleExtrasB" div id="articleExtras" Other planned upgrades include removal of all major components of the 73-story hotel’s central heating and cooling systems, and replacement with high-efficiency systems. Specialty-contracting giant EMCOR Group of Connecticut announced that it has acquired infrastructure contractor Harry Pepper & Associates of Jacksonville, Fla. The Everglades Foundation recently released the results of an analysis of the financial return on investment generated by restoration of the Everglades. According to the study, conducted by Mather Economics, restoration will produce an increase in economic benefits of approximately $46.5 billion. div id="articleExtrasA" div id="articleExtrasB" div id="articleExtras" The study shows that for every dollar spent on Everglades restoration as part of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, $4.04 will be generated in economic benefits.
