Total construction starts in January were reported at $40.6 billion, down 14% from the same month a year ago,

The four-year project increases storage capacity and replaces two aging concrete water storage tanks and a pump station built in 1963.

Prices for inputs to nonresidential construction have fallen 0.8% on a monthly basis and 2.7% on an annual basis.

AIA reported the January ABI score was 49.6, down slightly from the mark of 51.3 in the previous month.

The $2.75-million project reconstructed three deteriorating timber bridges built in the 1930s.

Rounding out the top five metro areas in 2015 were Miami, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Chicago and Washington, D.C.  Cities ranked six through 10 were Los Angeles, Boston, Seattle, Houston and Denver.
