The completion of the tower is scheduled for December 2010. This project is a 21-story, 532-room, 500,000-sq-ft hotel tower that will include 68 suites, 454 guest rooms and a skybridge connecting the facility to the two existing hotel towers.
The City of Miami Beach awarded the Lincoln Park design contract to Dutch urban design and landscape architectural firm West 8. Lincoln Park is the third and final component of Miami Beach’s City Center Redevelopment Project. The park will sit adjacent to a new campus for the New World Symphony designed by Frank Gehry, scheduled to open in January 2011. The project also includes a 520-space public parking garage with ground-level retail space, also designed by Gehry. An Aug. 13 agreement between state and Federal authorities resolves long-standing issues and promises to remove bureaucratic obstacles to the restoration of the Everglades in South Florida under the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP). The "master agreement" establishes uniform terms and conditions for the project partnership agreements under which the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the South Florida Water Management District will cooperate and share costs for the CERP projects. “The master agreement allows us to move forward on construction on any CERP project,” says Kenneth Ammon, the South Florida Water Management District’s deputy executive director for Everglades restoration.
