As New Orleans gears up to host Super Bowl LIX in February 2025, the Big Easy’s construction industry is not punting on the opportunities. “The city is expecting more than 125,000 visitors and a total economic impact of at least $500 million, which has spurred several hospitality expansion and renovation projects across the Central Business District,” Palmisano says.
Signature projects include the final phase of a $535-million renovation of the Caesars Superdome, the 50-year-old stadium that will host the Super Bowl. Additionally, Palmisano anticipates another big year for infrastructure work as municipalities move forward on programs to rebuild roads, bridges and damaged infrastructure.
“In the private building market, many projects are stalled in response to the broader economy, global uncertainty, elevated interest rates and the upcoming election,” he notes. “Despite these realities, our buildings backlog is at an all-time high, and we’re projecting 2025-2027 to be strong once business conditions improve and building projects start to move forward again.”
