The city of Portland is planning to construct the Bull Run Filtration Facility on a 90-acre site in Gresham. The project involves constructing a direct or conventional granular media filtration facility with a design capacity between 145 and 160 million gallons per day, with more specific pre- and post-filtration treatment processes. The plant is being built to comply with U.S. EPA rules to remove potentially deadly cryptosporidium from the Bull Run Reservoir water that serves Portland and much of the surrounding area.
