This project includes four of the five buildings planned for a campus that serves a defense contractor and its team working on the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Program at Hill Air Force Base in northern Utah. A year into construction, the client was awarded a $13.3-billion Dept. of Defense contract to build 400 new intercontinental ballistic missiles that required additional remodels after initial construction completion to accommodate the expanding contract scope.

All the facilities include classified spaces, and many different classification containers exist within the buildings that sometimes call for additional security measures. Highly technical construction needs included a fabrication unit boasting six rail cranes with high bay fabrication space, data centers and a mix of office and lab space. The project’s high-security SCIF spaces and specifications required all plumbing to be run outside the walls, with detailed attention to ensure pipe routes were built in an organized and aesthetically pleasing configuration.
