Boston-based design firm Shepley Bulfinch has appointed Angela Watson as president and chief executive. The longtime principal and design leader at the firm, as well as chair of the board, is taking over for Carole Wedge, who has served in the firm’s top role since 2004 and was one of the first women to lead a design firm of its size. Watson is based out of Shepley’s Phoenix office.
Chuck Carefoot has been named president of the Southwest region for Ryan Cos. US, Phoenix. Carefoot has held numerous construction leadership roles during his 25 years at the company, including senior vice president of operations. Ryan Cos. also hired Gil Gonzalez as vice president of development, multifamily. With 22 years of experience, Gonzalez will focus on pursuits in Arizona and will lead all aspects of multifamily development processes.
Full-service multifamily investment, management and development firm MC Cos., Scottsdale, Ariz., has hired David Mannion as chief operating officer. Part of the executive team, Mannion will lead growth of the MC Cos. portfolio from 6,500 to 25,000 units owned in the Southwest and key growth markets by 2029, through a combination of property acquisitions and new apartment development, including the 1,100 multifamily units currently in the MC Cos.’ development pipeline.
Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP) has named Mark Mitchell, the former mayor of Tempe, Ariz., as director of business development for its Southwest division. With over 21 years of construction materials experience and more than 20 years of service as an elected official, Mitchell will pursue commercial construction opportunities that align with AP Southwest’s growth strategy. AP has also launched a Southwest special projects division to focus on construction projects of less than $5 million with tight deadlines in occupied spaces or facilities. Mehul Mistry, special projects manager, has joined AP Southwest to lead the new division, which won its inaugural project bid from the Kyrene School District for weatherization improvements to Mariposa, Manitas, Esperanza and Lagos Elementary Schools. Mistry joins AP with more than a decade of construction experience and was previously a project manager with Katerra.
Michaela Rempkowski has been promoted to director of integrated design for McCarthy Building Cos.’ national water group, based in Phoenix. In her new role, Rempkowski is leading the water group’s design services team, which focuses on providing design strategies management and implementation.
Multifamily housing development and management firm P.B. Bell, Scottsdale, Ariz., has expanded its team by welcoming two new employees and promoting another. Marissa D. Worley has been promoted to vice president. She joined P.B. Bell in 2018 and has 13 years of accounting experience. Alex Popovic has been hired as the director of land acquisition. Before joining the team, Popovic was the vice president of development for a local multifamily development firm. Anne Healy has been hired as the firm’s director of development. Before joining P.B. Bell, Healy was vice president of development at Cardon Development Group.
Jennifer Valentine has joined Parametrix’s Las Vegas office as a senior transportation planner. She comes to Parametrix from the Maricopa Association of Governments in Arizona, where she was a transportation planner and project manager.
Steven Zadorozny has been promoted to general superintendent at Barker Contracting in Tucson. Zadorozny joined the firm in 2011 as a carpenter.
