FLORIDA

The Florida Dept. of Transportation is currently evaluating eight submitted bids for a bridge construction project. The project entails building a new bridge in Jupiter, which will carry U.S. Route 1 over the Loxahatchee River. It will have 35 ft of vertical clearance and 125 ft of horizontal clearance. In addition, 7-ft-wide buffered bicycle lanes and 8-ft-wide sidewalks will be provided on both sides. Construction is expected to start in July 2021 and be completed by July 2025. FLORIDA

Moss & Associates has started building the Five Park Condominiums and Apartments at 500 Alton Road in Miami Beach. Subcontractor Controlled Demolition Inc. demolished the shell of the old South Shore Hospital on the site in April. Moss will erect a 48-story, 571,000-sq-ft residential tower containing 280 units, 7,880 sq ft of restaurant space, 577 interior parking spaces and 104 surface parking spaces as well as a three-acre park. FLORIDA

Phillips & Jordan Inc. is constructing a 6,500-acre stormwater treatment area (STA) system in West Palm Beach. The project includes construction of canals, stormwater pump stations, inflow and outflow structures, discharge structure, spillways, culverts and levees. GEORGIA 

The Georgia Dept. of Transportation is evaluating submitted bids from firms seeking to carry out the State Route 400 Express Lanes project in Sandy Springs. The project will add two express lanes along a 16-mile corridor in each direction between the MARTA North Springs Station and McGinnis Ferry Road. One buffer-separated express lane will be constructed in each direction from McGinnis Ferry Road to McFarland Parkway. The project is valued at $1.3 billion. GEORGIA

Balfour Beatty Construction has begun carrying out the 222 Mitchell Street redevelopment project in Atlanta. The site was formerly the data processing center and executive offices of Nations Bank. The contractor will convert the existing structure into a 333,000-sq-ft mixed-use space with a 27,000-sq-ft rooftop, with 217,000 sq ft of office space and 72,000 sq ft of retail space. NORTH CAROLINA

Norfolk Naval Shipyard is seeking bidders to build an aircraft maintenance hangar at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. The project entails constructing a two-story, low-rise, two-squadron module Type 1 maintenance hangar for F-35B Lightning II aircraft, including a high-bay space, crew and equipment space and administrative space. NORTH CAROLINA

The North Carolina Dept. of Transportation is seeking bidders to carry out Interstate 95 roadway and signal improvements in Johnston and Harnett Counties. The project involves widening I-95 to eight lanes, improving interchanges and replacing a culvert under Murphy Road with a bridge near Exit 55 to help alleviate future flooding on I-95. The project is valued at between $200 million and $205 million.
