Renovation of this Phoenix health care facility transformed the east side of the fifth-floor tower into two state-of-the-art patient bed pods with 24 patient rooms. Completed in January 2020, the 16,397-sq-ft project also renovated the central nursing station and other technologically advanced patient-care spaces.
Integrated project delivery and lean processes streamlined all work, allowing early coordination and in-room verification and reducing construction conflicts. Key subcontractors were brought on board during the design phase, facilitating layout and coordinating tasks such as overhead MEP, patient shower trench drains, sanitary waste piping and a state-of-the-art patient monitoring system, which provides instant communication from rooms to the hallways and on to the nursing station.
An elevated level of teamwork and trust expedited the schedule and kept the project within budget without disrupting occupied spaces nearby.
