Owner: City of Fort Worth
Lead Design Firm: TranSystems
General Contractor: McCarthy Building Cos.

The $31-million multimodal route between downtown Fort Worth and the Near Southside neighborhood includes a four-lane roadway with two pedestrian pathways underneath Interstate 30. The project required a new rail bridge to support four existing Union Pacific Railroad lines that run through the eastern limit of the project. To construct the railroad bridge, McCarthy shifted four existing railroad tracks north in a shoofly configuration for each separate track. The bridge was built in four phases, adjacent to live traffic. Once the railroad bridge was complete, McCarthy Building Co. excavated under the completed highway and rail bridges to construct the roadway and pedestrian underpass.
