On this $38.1-million project, Kitchell conducted weekly safety meetings in both English and Spanish. During meetings, all workers discussed incidents from the previous week as well as what to anticipate in the upcoming weeks. Some project-specific safety strategies included the restriction of vehicular traffic flow onto and off the site; the installation of air handling units in the attic space prior to the installation of walls and ceilings; and weekend installation work to minimize the number of people on site. Concrete pours were started in the early morning to get concrete trucks off site before other trade workers started to arrive. The project had no recordable incidents and no lost-time accidents with more than 250,000 work hours performed.
