On the Midwestern State University’s $34.1-million Centennial Hall project, crews started the day together to stretch and flex for workday activities. Foreman met for a daily huddle to plan and understand equipment and material movements. All workers on the project had “stop work” authority and responsibility—and were trained under a Speak Up, Listen Up program. Site personnel performed safety tours weekly. Corporate safety representatives from both Trinity Hughes and Sundt as well as subcontractors frequented the site to make recommendations and share best practices. With nearly 200,000 work hours performed, the project had no recordable incidents and no lost-time accidents.
