Total construction spending across Las Vegas expected to decline 6.6% this year

Residential starts to rise 7%, while non-residential and non-building will fall 4% and 28%, respectively.

“There is a lot of excitement in the Las Vegas construction market these days,” Cannito says. “Considering where the whole industry was a short time ago, it’s amazing to see so many large projects underway. Las Vegas is really coming into its own as an amazing city, and that’s having a huge impact on the construction industry.”

The 430,000-sq-ft Wynn Convention Center was recently completed, the $375-million, 550,000-sq-ft Caesars Forum conference center is on track to open in March and the $90-million Expo at World Market Center Las Vegas is on track for summer completion.

“With so many quality projects going full steam ahead, the optimism is bound to last awhile,” Cannito says.

More sports venues are coming to the city as well.

“The city of Henderson has issued an RFP for a new events center to be the home of the [Vegas Golden Knights] AHL team,” Cannito says. On top of that, the $2-billion Allegiant Stadium for the Raiders is expected to be complete this summer, he adds.
