This Amazon Fulfillment Center includes 2.3 million sq ft of finished floor space, and it was constructed in just 12 months. The aggressive schedule required clear communication and creative problem-solving among trade partners. The team set up a system to bring fill dirt onto the site by running 30 trucks around the clock, and thus raising the pad by 5 ft in just 17 days. The 855,000-sq-ft project also called for a lot of steel and concrete. More than 200 concrete tilt-up panels—the heaviest weighing more than 112.5 tons—were lifted into place. The team established an onsite batch plant and thus eliminated more than 10,000 concrete truck trips through the streets of Salt Lake City.
