The Epic is part of a 172-acre development situated along the southern part of the State Highway 161 corridor in Grand Prairie, Texas. Contractor Lee Lewis Construction’s scope of work included Epic Waters, an 80,000-sq-ft indoor water park; the GrandLawn Amphitheater; and Epic Rec, a 120,000-sq-ft fitness, arts and entertainment destination.

The water park features a retractable glass roof, which presented an early challenge. To ensure that the aluminum needed for the roof’s structure could be delivered from outside the country in time to meet the demands of the construction schedule, the team had to make the purchase orders before construction documents or the formal contracts were finalized.
