One of the main challenges associated with delivering the signature design for Comcast’s division headquarters offices in Atlanta were the long lead times required of so many project elements.

Choate Construction—which has completed more than 650,000 sq ft of corporate office space for the client over the past decade—faced an extremely tight and active jobsite.

The team had a seven-month, fast-tracked schedule to deliver the space near SunTrust Park for Comcast’s technologists, engineers and software architects at one of the country’s most connected developments.

Also, with the building surrounded by restaurants, condominiums, hotels and retail spaces, the project team was challenged by the availability of just one loading dock, and it had to be shared with multiple other businesses, requiring precise planning of all deliveries.

Choate used BIM models throughout to assist in coordinating the systems to be installed in the plenum area. Since the project was an interior build-out, contractors first had to reconfigure numerous major systems that were already in place. Using 3D modeling, the contractor modeled the space before construction began, overlaying the building’s architectural drawings to detect any underlying issues.

The project team achieved an outstanding safety record, with zero rates for both lost-time accidents and OSHA recordable incidents.
